It’s Juneteenth!

For those celebrating, I have a Cocktail and a Mocktail recipe to share.

The color “red” symbolizes strength, spirituality, life and death, and along with Strawberry Soda (a Juneteenth staple), served as inspirations for my recipes.

STRONG & FREE COCKTAIL
2 oz 1856 Uncle Nearest Whiskey (100 proof)
1. 5 oz Strawberry Purée
0.5 oz Simple Syrup
Fresh Strawberries
6 – 8 Mint Leaves
Mint Sprigs
Ice

In a glass add in Mint Leaves, handful of cut Strawberries, and Strawberry Purée. Take a Muddler and muddle ingredients all together, being sure to gently crush the fresh strawberries. Next add 1 oz Whiskey. Then add ice. After, add in the remaining 1 oz of Whiskey. Taste. If the cocktail is too strong (because it is 100 proof), add in the 0.5 oz of Simole Syrup. Stir. Garnish with Mint Sprigs and/or a Strawberry.

SWEET GLORY MOCKTAIL
1/2 cup Seedless Watermelon
1/2 cup Stawberries
1/2 Fresh Lime
1/4 Fresh Lemon
1 oz Strawberry Purée
Handful of Mint Leaves and Stems
Ice

In a blender combine Watermelon, Strawberries, Strawberry Purée, Mint into a Blender. Blend well until contents have a nice, smooth, consistency.

Since the ingredients still will have a slight thickness to it (like a smoothie), use a strainer (ie like a kitchen/baking strainer) to strain ingredients into a glass over fresh ice. You may need to use a spoon to help the ingredients filter through the strainer.

Next, add in juice from 1/2 Lime and 1/4 Lemon. Stir.

Top with Sparkling Lemonade. Garnish with Strawberry.

Cheers!
